Gambling Adverts on Youtube

Wednesday, 23 June 2010
Google, the owner of Youtube has finally decided enough is enough and allowed gambling adverts on Youtube for UK users and companies.

In 2008 Google allowed gambling companies in the UK to purchase keywords for paid searches but has now taken this a step further by allowing gambling adverts on its video arm Youtube.

For those worried about their children Google has worked on an important and unique way of ensuring that the adverts target those that are eighteen or over in age. To ensure that the adverts are only available to those over eighteen Google will use the Youtube profile data of the user so it knows how old they are.

It has been noted that Google has actually been in contact with the gambling industry for around two years to work out how the advertising relationship would work without tarnishing the Google brand by minors being able to find them.

This is another huge step for Google as they try to cement their position at number one for advertising as well as being an online search engine.

It wont be long before you uncover a gambling advert on Youtube while searching for an interesting and unique viral video.
