Computers became household items in the 1980's with the likes of the RM Nimbus, BBC computer, Acorn Electron and the like. After this the 1990's rolled round with the PC, we all remember the 486 Personal Computer and its immense power to be used as a word processor. The new century dawned and the internet was a raging success, this meant that computers were much sought after as people wanted to get involved in the internet highway and the extra applications computers were able to use.
Since this time the sturdy and dependable personal computer is on the demise, but why is this?
The reason is the new and innovative laptops and tablets available. It seems that even the commerical world has joined in this new trend and started to ditch computers for laptops and tablets, but why is this?
Well put simply the personal computer is a cumbersome peice of equipment that is static and cannot be carried around. In contrast a laptop is very versatile and easily carried around while the tablet is a device that is so slim and lightweight it can be taken anywhere.
If you go on a train or plane, or even visit your local coffee house your sure to see people browsing the internet on a tablet or writing away on a laptop.
So why is it taking two different computer forms to outpace the dependable personal computer?
Well truth be told both the laptop and tablet have their drawbacks. The laptop is still a little cumbersome to be carried around all the time, although it can carry out any function a computer can. The tablet on the other hand is an immense internet surfing tool but is pretty much a non goer for writing anything other than tweets on Twitter or Facebook comments because of the slow typing of a touch pad.
Computers of old are dying a death but the new and innovative computers like the iPad tablet and the Sony Vaio laptops are alive and kicking, they are essentially the life of present day computers.
