Skype Shutdown

We reported only days ago of Facebook shutting down for nearly 30 minutes but now its the time to talk about Skype who had an outage on Wednesday 22nd December.

The outage occured on and off throughout the day and saw users either being unable to log on to their Skype account or finding their calls cut off half way through. With around 20 million people on average using Skype at various times throughout the day it was a huge outage that affected everyone from Japan to the United States, the UK to Africa.

Skype is now back up and running but has seen users unhappy with the outage. Skype said of the outage: "We take outages like this really seriously and apologise for the inconvenience users are having,"

The last time Skype experienced an outage like this was back in 2007, since 2007 Skype has increased its user base greatly so the outage yesterday had greater impact than any previously.
