New Game Called Glitch Unveiled

Stewart Butterfield one of the co founders of the hugely popular Flickr website has just unveiled his latest online venture, this venture is a huge online game called Glitch.

The game is a massive multi player game that is free to join and undertakes an interesting dynamic not seen in most online games.

Glitch is a 2D animated game set around a billion years in the future in what is seen as the perfect world. Unfortunately this perfect world starts to disintegrate and the scientists find “Glitches” in the world (hence the name Glitch).

The game uses this story to take players through many puzzles and tasks to fix the glitches so the world can return to being perfect. To solve these puzzles players go back in time by travelling through the minds of the creators of this world, these creators are fourteen giants.

Players of Glitch can either work alone or create groups of individuals they meet along the way to help solve the puzzles utilizing different skills people have.

Players can improve their character by carrying out different activities to increase their player points, these activities include: "gardening, alchemy, animal kinship and bureaucratic arts". Players are also able to gain extra powers by unlocking special functions as they work through the game.

Glitch will not be unveiled on to the world for players to join until the autumn of 2010, but a small number are able to sign up now to test the game.

Joining Glitch will be free but Stewart Butterfield and his company Tiny Speck will be selling virtual items and account upgrades to make some income.
